B-Tech, the audio-visual company, is delighted to have played its part in helping UK exports grow to an all-time high.

Official figures showed UK firms sold a record £13.2 billion worth of goods to non-European Union markets in July – up 11 per cent on the previous month.

There is now a definite trend of increasing exports to markets outside the EU – a hugely important development for the UK economy.

And B-Tech, based in Long March, Daventry, Northants, is increasing its share of that market with sales particularly hot in Asia, Russia and North America.

Sales outside the EU are up significantly compared with the same period last year.

Its business within the EU is also growing and the company is seeking to expand further this year.

One example of B-Tech’s diverse business is its Cantabria range of AV furniture that is made in Spain then exported to the rest of the world.

A Treasury spokesman said: “These figures are encouraging news on the UK economy and show that we are starting to earn our way in the world. The Government is working hard to deliver sustainable, export-led growth.”

Matt Bennett, MD of B-Tech, said: “These figures match our experience in the world market with more and more of our products going to markets outside the EU.

”With economies often growing faster outside the EU than within it we are increasingly finding new markets for our wide range of products.”

The Office for National Statistics figures showed exports helped shrink Britain’s trade deficit with the rest of the world – the shortfall between exports and imports – from £4.3 billion in June to £1.5 billion in July.

It was the largest narrowing of the trade deficit on record and fuelled hopes that Britain may finally be pulling out of recession.
